HighCharts - Pie Charts

Pie charts display data as slices of a circle, where each slice represents a category’s proportion relative to the whole. They are effective for showing the composition of a dataset with a small number of categories.

Common variations and features:

Sr. No.Chart Type / Feature Description
1Basic Pie Chart: Standard circular chart divided into proportional slices.
2Donut Chart (Doughnut): A pie chart with a hole in the center, often used to display additional information or for aesthetic purposes.
3Semi-Circle Pie/Donut: Displays only half of the pie or donut chart, useful for saving space or specific dashboard designs.
4Pie with Legends: Includes a legend to identify which color corresponds to which category slice.
5Pie with Data Labels: Shows category names and/or values directly on or next to the slices.
6Pie with Drilldown: Allows users to click a slice to reveal a more detailed breakdown (e.g., another pie chart showing sub-categories).
7Variable Radius Pie (Polar Chart): The radius of each slice can vary based on another data dimension, in addition to the angle representing proportion.
8Gradient Fill: Applying gradient colors to slices for visual enhancement.
9Monochrome Fill: Using varying shades of a single color for the slices.

While popular, pie charts can become difficult to read with too many slices. Consider bar charts for comparing many categories.
