Drupal - Delete Content
Drupal - Delete Content
Section titled “Drupal - Delete Content”In this chapter, we will learn how to delete content in Drupal. You can delete any previously created content items, such as Articles, Basic Pages, or Blog Posts.
Follow these simple steps to delete content:
Step 1: Navigate to the Content Overview Page
Section titled “Step 1: Navigate to the Content Overview Page”In the administration toolbar, click ‘Manage’, then select ‘Content’ (this usually takes you to /admin/content).
Step 2: Find the Content to Delete
Section titled “Step 2: Find the Content to Delete”You will see a list of all content items on your site. You can use the filters at the top of the page to find the specific piece of content you wish to delete:
- Filter by Title: Enter keywords from the content’s title.
- Filter by Content type: Select the type of content (e.g., Article, Basic page).
- Filter by Published status: Choose ‘Published’ or ‘Unpublished’.
- Filter by Language: If your site is multilingual.
Click the ‘Filter’ button after setting your criteria. For example, to find an ‘About Us’ page, you might filter by Title or by Content type ‘Basic page’.
Step 3: Initiate Deletion
Section titled “Step 3: Initiate Deletion”Once you’ve located the content item in the list, there are two common ways to delete it:
- Using the Operations Dropdown: In the ‘Operations’ column for the content item, click the dropdown button (often represented by a down arrow or gear icon) and select ‘Delete’.
- From the Edit Page: Click ‘Edit’ in the Operations column. This will take you to the content editing form. Scroll to the bottom of the form and click the ‘Delete’ button.
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
Section titled “Step 4: Confirm Deletion”Drupal will ask you to confirm that you want to delete the content. A message like ‘Are you sure you want to delete [Content Title]?’ will appear.
Review the information. If you are sure, click the ‘Delete’ button. If you want to cancel, click ‘Cancel’.
Step 5: Deletion Confirmation Message
Section titled “Step 5: Deletion Confirmation Message”After you confirm, the content item will be permanently deleted. Drupal will display a status message, typically saying something like ‘The [content type] [Content Title] has been deleted.’
Important Note: Deleting content is usually a permanent action. While Drupal has a revision system, ‘deleting’ typically removes the node entirely. Ensure you want to permanently remove the content before confirming.
