Python Home
Python is a versatile, high-level, interpreted programming language known for its readability and extensive standard library. Created by Guido van Rossum (first released in 1991), Python supports multiple programming paradigms, including procedural, object-oriented, and functional programming. Its open-source nature (under the Python Software Foundation License) fosters a large and active community.
Key Features:
Section titled “Key Features:”- Easy to Learn: Clean syntax emphasizes readability.
- Large Standard Library: Provides modules for many common tasks.
- Extensible: Easily integrates with other languages like C/C++.
- Portable: Runs on various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Vibrant Community & Ecosystem: Abundant libraries for web development (Django, Flask), data science (NumPy, Pandas), machine learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch), automation, and more.
Audience
Section titled “Audience”This tutorial is designed for aspiring programmers and developers who want to learn Python, starting from the basics. It’s suitable for beginners with little or no previous programming experience, as well as developers transitioning from other languages.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”A basic understanding of general computer usage is helpful. While prior programming experience is a plus, it is not strictly required as this tutorial covers fundamental concepts.
Execute Python Programs
Section titled “Execute Python Programs”Throughout this tutorial, you’ll find code examples. If your learning platform provides a “Try it” or similar interactive feature, use it to run and modify the code directly. This hands-on approach is crucial for effective learning.
Try the following classic example. If using an interactive tool, click the run button. Otherwise, save it as a .py file and run it using python3 your_filename.py in your terminal:
#!/usr/bin/env python3
# This is a comment
# Use the print() function in Python 3print("Hello, Python!")
